JKD Television / Hamada Radio Network has filed an application before a Federal High Court Kaduna seeking an order for the enforcement of fundamental human rights, to personal liberty, fair hearing, respect and dignity of the persons.
In a statement signed by Aisha Yusuf Mamman, JKD Media’s General Manager, the company said the decision to seek justice before the Federal High Court Kaduna is a result of failure to reach amicable settlement with Alh Ibrahim Masari (Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters).
The statement went on to say that the Nigerian Police were also joined in the suit following the illegal occupation of JKD TV premises on the 11th September 2026 by armed police men from the Kaduna State Police Command without a valid court order or warrant, and the detention of our GM and security personnel at the Kaduna State Police Command.
Apart from the detention of these two persons which elicited a huge outcry from within and outside Nigeria – including Amnesty International, the Police also declared Zainab Yabagi, who is a presenter with JKD TV wanted.
Here’s the press release:
The statement thanks well-meaning organizations and persons, including the President of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Chairman, Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), and elder statesmen – who they say have been intervening to find an amicable resolution of the problem.
